International Gender Equality Mechanisms
Taking as its base the EU
Standards and mechanisms developed in accession countries, the presentation
compared the approaches adopted by Hungary, Bulgaria and Lithuania and outlined
the relative merits and disadvantages of each. This session, therefore, served
as an example of best practices that Kosovo could consider in the shaping of
itsown local structures.
Gender-Sensitive
Statistics and Indicators
The session centered around the
empowering role that the integration of the collection and dissemination of
sex-disaggregated data can play in working towards gender equality in a
society. By highlighting the existing problems, and investigating
interrelations among different groups within a given society, gender statistics
can, and should, be used by policy makers to formulate projects and programmes
to close these gender gaps. The presentation also pointed out the current
dearth of such statistics in Kosovo, highlighting the need for their production.
