Applying Tools for Gender Mainstreaming in UNMIK
This ongoing training programme is meant to provide all Mission's components with an enhanced knowledge of gender issues in post-conflict societies, as well as institution building and democratization processes, to strengthen the collective implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security.
"Applying tools for gender mainstreaming" was kick-started in 2005 with special sessions addressing specific categories of staff and substantive offices directly dealing with Mission's priorities. These special sessions have generated a range of agreements to boost the monitoring of the fulfilment of the gender equality goals and key related actions integrated in the Standards for Kosovo. Bi-montly sessions were also held for mixed groups with the contribution of representatives of local gender equality mechanisms and women's organizations.
