Court
Adminstrators - Training
Outlining the fundamental themes
within gender analysis, including the division of labour, access to and control
over resources, and participation in decision-making, the presentation aimed to
raise awareness among the court administrators of gender issues. Specifically,
the presentation outlined the importance of having women represented at all
levels of the judiciary, and the need for EU Standards for candidate countries
to be followed in this respect. Statistics were presented, showing the low
representation of women in the judiciary and at the bar and gave examples of
relevant primary and secondary legislation relating to gender equality in
employment. A discussion followed wherein the participants attempted to
identify the obstacles that have prevented a more equal hiring policy between
women and men.
